Welcome to The Start

Come and relax in our 18th Century family home. Unwind in a quiet, comfortable and rural location on the banks of the River Wye, 300 yards from the centre of Hay on Wye, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. We promote green tourism wherever possible, using environmentally friendly products and supporting local suppliers. Our bed and breakfast has a large garden with off road parking, and hens and ducks roaming free, taking care of your eggs for breakfast.
Breakfast is served in the dining room between 8 and 9 am and comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, all served with home-baked bread and unusual home-made jams and marmalades. We can cater for special diets by prior arrangement.

Let us provide you with the perfect base for book buying, birdwatching, star-gazing or just breathing! Cyclists and walkers very welcome, and we can offer delicious home made packed lunches and free flask filling! Cycle lock-up and drying facilities.
